of the most beautiful of Europe !
If you will take a drive along the coast you will find the most breath taking views. With cliffs rising up from the sands. Sheltered natural coves and the beautiful silvery sea. On the Silvercoast you will find dozens of beaches and a lot of them carry the prestigious Blue Flag designation that recognises their cleanliness and natural beauty.
There are so many beaches here it is possible to get away from the crowds no matter what time of year it is. In July and August beaches where you will find the most crowds are Foz do Arelho, Nazare, and Peniche . But there are lots of other quieter spots along the coast, , where it is possible to find a place of your own even in the busiest summer months.
The beach closest to the house is São Martinho do Porto: A very safe beach in a sheltered bay. The bay is beautiful, being sheltered from the sea by cliffs, with just a narrow stretch of water opening to the ocean. Here you will also find several restaurants, bars and little shops. In the town there are some beautiful traditional houses, and a small play area.

Nazaré: A vast stretch of open sands, very busy in the summer months but fantastic the rest of the year.
Foz do Arelho: On the shores of the stunning " Lagoa de Óbidos " (Óbidos lagoon), this is a popular beach but the sea is frequently rough. The lagoon side of the beach, however, offers safe swimming and is ideal for little ones. On the other side of the lagoon you will find a Sailing centre “ Escola de vela da Lagoa” they provide boats and equipment’s, and do several water sports courses.
Peniche: A world-famous surfing spot where experienced and inexperienced surfers can always find a perfect surfing wave ! Baleal and Supertubos are the best know beaches here. There is also a surfing school. S
In peniche you can catch the boat to “the Berlengas “ An Island reserve that is home to thousands of seabirds including puffins, guillemots, gulls, and cormorants. The crystal clear waters around the islands are designated as a marine reserve and are teeming with fish and marine life, making them a spectacular site for diving. There is no permanent population on the island but it is possible to stay the night in the impressive 17th century fort. There are also camping facilities on the main island. Booking for the hostel in the fort ,or camping should be made at Peniche Tourist Information.
Paredes beach: A little north of Nazaré, Paredes offers a vast stretch of sandy beach with a little river that runs through it and offers lots of fun for children to play or to do some body boarding. There are a couple of well know and very good seafood restaurants, also a couple of bars which serve “petiscos” little snacks.
